heriot watt graduate fashion show, dovecot studios, edinburgh, 24th june 2011

The show was off to an explosive start on Friday night with Samantha McEwens models dancing down the runway wearing a vibrant mix of colours, prints and textures along with the massive oversized garment shapes.  Her unisex collection was styled with good old cons, faces painted like voodoo zombies and other props such as totem poles and heads!  The girls hair was crazy...wish I could get my hair like that......other highlights from the show included Linzi Austins latex trench coats and a printed jersey jumpsuit covering all but the face, Anna Visoccis collection which included laser cut and etched slogans such as 'coal not dole' and 'rich get richer' with the use of luxurious fabrics such as velvet and silk (I want the blue velvet jumpsuit, gorgeous).  I liked the mix and match printed skirts and blouses from Ashliegh Smith....thought I should mention that seen as Hannah thinks I love a good print!  Rachel Wilson's use of futuristic fabrics, brights and skilled pattern cutting made her collection one to definitely keep your eye on.  Athif Dean, Eildh Mckay and Pauline Maggilvary also had great creations amongst others too many to mention.  Sorry about the poor quality of some of the images.  Best of luck to everyone for the future, I’m sure many of them will be bright. x
